As described in Step 2, you can use this built-in tool to make adjustments to the source image.
Adjustments
These commands allow you to adjust brightness, contrast, and color balance of the actual image. You can specify new values by using the slider or entering values into the edit text boxes. If you specify 0 (zero), no adjustment will be made. Note, the adjustments only affect the current project, the source file will never be changed whatever adjustments you made.
